#8: Read books by 26 new authors (26/26) COMPLETED

Why it’s on the list: I read a lot but do tend to stick to the same authors, though since I joined BookCrossing several years ago I have widened my reading sphere. This task will challenge me to read authors that I’ve not yet encountered – 26 of them to be precise, one for each letter of the alphabet, though I may have to cheat a little with some of the letters! The books may be ones I already own but haven’t yet read, borrowed or bought.

How/when I’ll judge this task to be completed: When I have read 26 books, reviewed them on my Good Reads account and linked to them here.

A: The Checkout Girl – Tazeen Ahmad

B: The Year of Wonders – Geraldine Brooks

C: Burial by Neil Cross

D: Room by Emma Donoghue

E: Every Last One by Anne Quindlen

F: Black Seconds by Karin Fossum

G: Notes from an Exhibition by Patrick Gale

H: Chocolat by Joanne Harris

I: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving

J: How to Do Everything and Be Happy by Peter Jones

K: The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury

L: A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka

M: The Last Letter From Your Lover by Jojo Moyes

N: The Snowman by Jo Nesbo

O: Natural Causes by James Oswald

P: Ten Years On – Alice Peterson

Q: Every Last One by Anna Quindlen

R: William Walker’s First Year of Marriage by Matt Rudd

S: In Search of Adam by Caroline Smailes

T: You Wish by Terry Tyler

U: Weirdo by Cathy Unsworth

V: Are You My Mother? By Louise Voss

W: Refuge – Gillian White

X: Sky Burial – Xinran

Y: Murder by Yew – Suzanne Young

Z: Virtual Strangers -Ola Zoltan and Susanne O’Leary

Conclusion – I’ve really enjoyed doing this challenge. It was difficult finding authors for some of the letters but I have discovered some real gems – four of these books were on my top ten reads of 2012, and others have become old favourites. I’m going to put this challenge on the next list because its really opened up my reading.
