Why it’s on the list: I’ve never been religious. I went to Sunday school briefly when I was a kid, and did brownie church parades and all that, but I never believed in God, in fact, I’m a signed up atheist … I think. I’ve recently been proofreading the Bible for a client and while it did nothing to turn me towards Christianity, or indeed any formal religion, it did get me thinking about what this life is all about and whether I actually think this is it – we are born, live and die – or if there is something bigger going on.

How/when I’ll judge this task to be completed: This is going to be a difficult one to pin down. But by the end of the 1001 days I want to have a better understanding of how I think this crazy old thing called life actually works.
