Review: The Knife of Never Letting Go

The Knife of Never Letting Go
The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Recommended by an online friend. I’m not a big scifi/ fantasy fan so this novel – about a boy living in a town in New World, where boys become men at thirteen, women have died out, animals can talk and every man can hear every other man’s thoughts – really didn’t appeal. However, I was gripped by Todd’s story very early on and couldn’t put it down – and the cliffhanger ending meant I had to buy the sequel too!

The book is party written in Todd’s own dialect and it does take some getting used to. There’s also quite a lot of violence in the book.

This is actually a kids/teen novel but some of the ideas are quite complex and I’d recommend it to anyone after a fast paced action thriller.
