101 Things in 1001 Days (2nd list)

Between 10th April 2010 and 5th January 2013 I attempted the 101 things in 1001 days challenge. I did reasonably well – I managed almost half the things – but I decided I wanted another go – so this is it.

The new 101 things in 1001 days challenge follows on immediately from the old one, so it starts on Sunday 6th January 2013 and ends on Sunday 4th October 2015.

One of the drawbacks of the original list was the amount of admin it caused, as I created a separate page for each challenge and then had to update them all. I’m going to keep it simple here. The list is below – I’m not giving reasons for why anything is on there or how I’ll know when it’s done (if you want to know, ask!). I’ll cross off each thing, or keep a running count, as I go along on this page, and I’ll be adding posts and linking to them from here. Hopefully it’ll be easier to maintain this way!

More about the 101 things in 1001 days Challenge:

The Mission

Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.

The Criteria

Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).

Why 1001 Days?

Many people have created lists in the past – frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organising and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.

  1. Hi Alison, I’ve ‘arrived’ at your blog via Lisa Cherry’s book Soul Journey. I just had to let you know how inspirational your blog is and how much it has made me think about a few things I would like to do. Thank you so much Julie x

  2. Wow – you’re welcome! I have to admit I keep the blog mainly for my own benefit but I’m thrilled I’ve inspired you in some way! Doing “the list” over the last three years has been great fun and though I didn’t manage everything I did do things I would never have done otherwise. I’m looking forward to embarking on the next list now! Let me know if you do something similar, I’d love to see what’s on your list!

  3. Hi Alison, I’ve arrived at your blog via Carrie Rose. What a wonderful list of things to do! I’ve been to a few comedy clubs (Cirencester and Gloucester) and think they’re great. Good luck with your alphabetical authors. I think fish pedicures are fading in popularity because apparently the fish spit the skin out again!! Perhaps go for one in the sea

  4. Ewww …. the fish thing sounds most unpleasant … maybe I’ll think of something to replace that with! I did the A-ZX authors on my last list too, and it was great for introducing me to some new favourites. Z was a problem though!
