Faringdon

The Folly is a proper old fashioned locals pub, but a very friendly one too. It’s very small – two small rooms with a central bar area, and the toilets are in a block out the back. Sport is very important here and one bar is dominated by a huge flat screen TV; the other has a smaller TV and a dart board. The pub shows both SKY and Setanta and it’s rare to go in there and not find some sport showing, though visitors at teatime might catch a quiz or cooking show instead!

The pub doesn’t do food though you’ll sometimes find a bowl of crisps or peanuts on the bar. Beer is good – there are usually four real ales as well as the usual selections of lager, spirits etc.

The pub wouldn’t win any prizes for design, it’s a bit of a spit and sawdust type place but staff and regulars are a friendly bunch and dogs are also very welcome.
