Very quick post today, as I’ve been working all day and my brain is frazzled!

My good friend Andrea lives in central Portugal and she and her partner run a permaculture project, keep livestock and are doing a damn fine job of living self-sufficiently. Me, I like my home comforts, like hot and cold running water, electricity and a flushing loo, but the area they live in is beautiful and I am full of admiration for everything they have achieved, often under difficult circumstances.

Anyway, Andrea is in the process of planting a “windbreak” of trees to protect her land from a newly improved road and she needs 150 seedlings to start the work. A supporter of her project makes beautiful personalised pens and has offered to help by sending her one sapling for every pen sold to a Casalinho supporter (that’s the name of her smallholding). The pens are unique and gorgeous and at only £3.50 each they are definitely a great idea for Xmas presents … plus Andrea gets a tree for every one bought too!
